Nursing
The overall aim of the Degree Programme in Nursing is to educate students with a view of practicing in international and multicultural nursing contexts. Practical work will include provision of nursing care and support to individuals, families and communities in order to help them achieve favorable health and avoid illness. The focus of studies will be on the whole person.
A registered nurse has the ability to implement and to develop health care work which is simultaneously health promoting and health maintaining, prevents illnesses and provides a treatment for them, and provides rehabilitation. A nurse works as an independent expert in health care when nursing patients and at the same time implementing the medical care of the patient prescribed by a physician. Nurse supports the resources of individuals in different stages of life and those of a community, and helps individuals to face up to illness, disability and death. Nurse works in co-operation with different professional groups.
